Tracie
Relic, CNA. To make life more meaningful for FTJ residents, Tracie
diligently makes a effort to get residents to any activity including church
service. Many times this means she personally takes and brings back 10+
residents to the activity. When Tracie is asked if she would help a
co-worker, not just in her department, she asks, “ what time do you need
help?” and she is always there to help. She is also currently acting as
Chair of the Safety Committee.
Dave Moench, Building Services. Dave is known to us in his role in Building Services but to others as a pastor. For some, this would mean doing the Building Services work, but having your heart in another place. Not so for Dave. His heart is on his sleeve, and everyone can see it. He embraces the opportunity to serve the residents with their maintenance needs, but also uses the opportunity to personally connect with them through the accompanying conversation. He has a love for people, and it shows in his work and in his interactions with his fellow team members. He also serves in a volunteer role, serving as a backup Chaplain, even on Christmas day. One can tell he considers it a joy to serve, and you can see it in those he serves.
Linda Lewis, Director of First Impressions. Linda brought meaning to a resident’s life be being a real live Santa. A resident told Linda that she wrote a letter to Santa asking for a $9 brown backpack that she saw in a catalog. When Linda heard this she went into action. The $9 backpack didn’t exist in the catalog because the resident was looking at a cell phone case, but this didn’t stop Linda…she went shopping. The difficulty was in finding the exact same backpack because after all Santa wouldn’t give a knockoff. Finally JC Penny came through and an almost identical backpack was found and purchased. Keep in mind the time and money spent on this backpack did not come from FTJ but rather by Linda. She wrapped the gift and secretly had it delivered to the resident to be found on Christmas morning. The resident was thrilled when Santa came through!
