The Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center, operated by Franke Tobey Jones since 1998, is a community gathering place where 55+ participants can join in fun events and activities, stay active and healthy, make new friends and share experiences. The Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center is located at 4716 N. Baltimore St., just a mile away from the Franke Tobey Jones campus.
The Center is also a Catholic Community Services Meal Site, offering hot, nutritious meals Monday through Thursday for a suggested donation of $2.50. Lunch time at the Center is a time of gathering together and camaraderie.
Services
Essential services are provided at the Center, including: Meal Site nutrition program, foot care, hearing services, blood pressure checks, income tax assistance, AARP Driver Safety programs, volunteer opportunities, informational speakers and much more.
Activities
Many activities occur daily at the Center, including: Wellness/exercise classes, yoga, massage, educational and cultural classes, chorus, arts and crafts, games, bridge and pinochle,
line dancing, parties and special events with fabulous entertainment and much more.
Senior Center Mission
To deliver quality services that promote growth and independence among 55+ year old adults in north and west Tacoma. We pursue this mission with the belief that seniors are valuable members of the community who benefit from comprehensive educational, informational, cultural, civic and social programming.
Senior Center Goals
- Provide a strong, active and innovative Center that engages community participants and community partnerships
- Design activities, classes and events to enhance quality of life and promote overall well-being
- Support healthy nutritional and wellness habits
- Inform and encourage members to be proactive in their own lives and in the community

Quebe
Director of Pt.
Defiance~Ruston Senior Center
Kate Quebe comes to us with an extensive background in the senior living and healthcare industries. She has previously been the Executive Director of several assisted living communities and has worked in home health and hospice for more than 20 years.
Born and raised in Texas, she moved to Washington over a decade ago. She resides in Tacoma with her dog, Harley, and her only daughter currently resides in Seattle. She is passionate about people and animals. She also enjoys reading, listening to music and going to the theater whenever she has the time.
