Endowment Funds
As a non-profit retirement community, Franke Tobey Jones receives most of its operating income from monthly rent and resident charges.
Because it is not feasible to pass along extra expenses to residents on limited incomes, we rely on private donations to cover needed capital expenses and extra programs that benefit our residents. Just as scholarship programs help support worthy students in college, the Charitable Subsidy Fund benefits qualified seniors and enables them to continue living at Franke Tobey Jones. Growing medical costs or outliving retirement savings is an issue of great concern for all seniors. The knowledge that such an endowment exists and can be applied for, provides a great service.
Endowment fund designations are available for Charitable Subsidy, which provides funds for residents who can no longer fully meet the costs of living at Franke Tobey Jones, Wellness Programs, for both residents and community seniors, Employee Scholarship, which provides scholarships to Franke Tobey Jones employees, and Senior University, a curriculum open to anyone over 55.
Annual Fund
Annual Fund designations directly benefit seniors. You can make an unrestricted gift, or designate your gift as follows:
- Charitable Subsidy: Off-setting current resident financial shortfalls for their continuing care.
- Where the Need is Greatest: Funds designated go to an area of need, determined by the board and community members of the Development Committee.
- Wellness Program: A senior fitness program optimizing the health and well being of our residents and community seniors in mind, body and spirit. (Click on Calendar)
- Health Care Services: Programs, services or equipment for our skilled nursing facility, needs for the Our Place program (our Alzheimer's/dementia program), and any other programs, equipment or services that fall under the health care umbrella.
- Senior University: A curriculum designed around the educational and cultural requests and needs of seniors in our community, in collaboration with local our higher education, cultural, health and business organizations.
- Employee Scholarship: A scholarship program created by Franke Tobey Jones residents to enable qualified staff members in pursuing their educational goals.
The Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center
A full-service, senior center located at 4716 N. Baltimore, Tacoma, serving the north and west areas of Tacoma. The senior center offers social, recreational and educational opportunities to seniors of all income levels, free of charge or by donation.
Legacy Circle
The Franke Tobey Jones Legacy Circle honors individuals who make bequests or other estate gifts to Franke Tobey Jones. Please consider leaving a legacy to Franke Tobey Jones in your name. Charitable giving can be made through cash gifts, charitable lead or remainder trusts, annuities, bequests, securities, real estate, art, life insurance and residual interests, and will often provide tax advantages. Endowment Program options include our Charitable Subsidy Program, Wellness, Senior University and named fund opportunities. If you wish to make such a provision in a deferred giving instrument such as a will or trust, please let us know so you can be recognized in our Legacy Circle.
Tribute and Memorial Fund
The Tribute and Memorial Fund allows gifting opportunities in honor of, in memory of, or in appreciation for someone special. Your gift may be restricted, or if left unrestricted, will be used on a “Where Need is Greatest” basis.
Grants
We are eligible to submit grants to foundations, corporations and community organizations, requesting support for our Wellness Programs, Senior University and the Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center.
Annual Fundraiser
"Franke's Follies" is an annual auction event which began in 2006. Proceeds go directly to our senior community service programs, such as the Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center, Senior University, and our community Wellness Program.
In addition to funding from the business community, foundations and community organizations, we are pleased to receive gifts from individual donors in support of our programs and services. We invite you to partner with us by making a gift in support of Franke Tobey Jones.
