20th Annual FTJ Wellness Walk
After a two year hiatus because of COVID restrictions, it was wonderful to bring back our Wellness Walk and Fair in August and to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. “It was a long time coming,” says Colin Deck, FTJ Wellness Program Supervisor. “It was amazing to all be together again!”
Residents, family members, community and FTJ team members all participated along with several wellness-oriented vendors. Although the weather didn’t cooperate much the morning of the walk, that didn’t deter anyone from attending and having a great time. All participants received a t-shirt, a healthy snack and could speak with health-related companies to learn about foot care, massage, in-home chefs, in-home care, senior transportation and more. Many nice health related items were also raffled off to excited recipients!
“We want to thank everyone for their support and participation,” says Colin. “It was a great time to come together to celebrate our community, active healthy living and 25 years of the FTJ Wellness program. Our Wellness/Fitness program has benefited thousands of seniors not only at FTJ but in the greater community through a myriad of classes, 6,000 square gym and personal fitness training. Our Wellness members have persevered throughout the last two years, continuing to make health and wellness a priority even thought the difficult times. And, our Wellness team members have also persevered during the last two years conducting hallway fitness for our residents, fitness classes via Zoom for FTJ residents and the great community, making fitness videos and so much more. It made coming together for our Wellness Walk just that much more meaningful and poignant!”
No matter what their age, everyone enjoyed the Wellness Walk!
