Feast and Fireworks

group of friends at our Feast and Fireworks

It was a special Independence Day weekend for some very surprised participants at the Pt. Defiance – Ruston Senior Center!  Thanks to the quick response and generous hearts of Residents and FTJ Team Members, 50 red, white, and blue bags were overflowing with baked beans, hot dogs and buns, and even packaged s’mores to take home for the Fourth of July.

Senior Center Director Kate Gray commented, “I cannot thank the FTJ residents enough for their thoughtfulness. This is BETTER than the Fourth of July!”  A grateful participant added, “I am taking my bag home now and going to make a nice lunch.  This is so ‘doggone’ special.”

With such a drastic increase in the cost of living, more and more seniors are in need of a little extra help.  Throughout the year, FTJ residents, staff, and Board of Directors collect canned goods for the Senior Center food assistance program.  If you would like to help, please contact Shelley Harris, Director of Philanthropy at sharris@franketobeyjones.com or at 253.756.6297.

Also thank you to residents Rita Copp, Mame Matteson and Pat Mail for filling the bags ~ you were having way too much fun!
