Meet Resident Marcia Kuska
Marcia was born in a small, rural town in central Nebraska. While attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, she met her future husband, Dick. They were both freshman and were being interviewed at the local radio station after winning a trip to Washington, DC to National 4-H Club Congress. They went out to lunch after the interview and quickly discovered they were a perfect match. That was it, they never dated anyone else. They were married after college in a small wedding in Lincoln, Nebraska followed by a reception at Marcia’s Phi Beta Phi sorority house. Life was perfect!
Marcia and Dick have two daughters, Ann and Mary. The family loved to travel together and took many road trips throughout the United States. Mary especially loved the sea so the family spent many trips where the land met the ocean. They also vacationed in Hawaii where everyone enjoyed the water, weather and lush scenery.
Marcia majored in Homemaking. She taught Home Economics for one year in her hometown of North Platte, Nebraska before they were married and sold real estate in North Dallas when the girls were in college.
Dick attended graduate school in Boston and received his MBA at Harvard. After graduation, Dick served two years in the Army. The couple lived in Massachusetts, Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and then for 35 years in Dallas Texas. Upon retirement, they moved to Taos, New Mexico where they lived happily for the next 24 years. Marcia and Dick were married over 60 years before Dick passed away.
Six years into being a widow, Marcia decided to move to Franke Tobey Jones. Her two daughters live close by, one on Vashon Island and one in Bellevue, and both daughters agreed that Franke Tobey Jones was the best place around for retirement living. Marcia concurred. It has been nine months since she moved in and she loves her apartment where she was able to bring ALL of her favorite things.
At Franke Tobey Jones, Marcia enjoys participation in the Knit Wits group, the book club and the exercise classes. She is currently knitting Oregon Ducks hats for her entire family, and she knits sweaters and scarves as well. She also enjoys baking and still uses her baking skills in her Tobey Jones apartment.
Family is everything to Marcia, and Marcia is everything to her family. Aside from her two daughters, she is the proud grandmother of four grandchildren. Also, each year Marcia and her three sisters have a family reunion, meeting in different parts of the U.S. and abroad.
We welcome Marcia to our Franke Tobey Jones family, and we are so glad you are here.
