Point Defiance ~ Ruston Senior Center Update

car parade

The Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center is moving ahead, in spite of COVID-19.  Seniors drive through for lunches, which, to date, we have served 2,252 since we have been closed.  Thanks to the generosity of Franke Tobey Jones staff and residents, we have been able to provide our participants Safeway gift cards as they have driven through for lunches.

Classes continue to be posted on the Pt. Defiance~Ruston Senior Center Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Pt-Defiance-Ruston-Senior-Center-138424082906873/), YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2hh6XBZAaTFYzdBXUBHqwQ/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=1&view_as=subscriber) and on Franke Tobey Jones website.  In September, on Facebook alone, we have had 2113 views.  As of October, we will be providing classes in Strength and Balance, Yoga, Drawing, Piano, Dance Gold, Line and Tap Dancing, Medicare, and more.

We care about our people!  Volunteers work tirelessly serving meals, making phone calls to check on our seniors and teaching classes.  Forty-six volunteers have served 1400 hours.  My heart and thanks goes out to everyone who makes what we do possible.

This virus may have temporarily closed the doors, but it hasn’t stopped us.  We move forward, always looking for more ways to serve our seniors.
