Book Discussion: Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson
In this 4-week discussion class led by Dr. Dexter Gordon, we will analyze Democracy Awakening by acclaimed historian Heather Cox Richardson. Richardson examines the historical forces that have led to the current political climate, showing how modern conservatism has preyed upon a disaffected population, weaponizing language and promoting false history to consolidate power.

“Race” as a Concept in Western Traditions*
This lecture by Dr. Asao B. Inoue is the first in a three-part lecture series on the histories of race. This lecture discusses the origins of “race” as a concept in Western traditions and histories, starting with ancient Greek traditions and ending in the contemporary notions of race. Dr. Inoue will also suggest applications for what understanding “race” historically can offer us today.
