story image On our first full day in our Duplex in 2019, as we were still unpacking, a friendly neighbor stopped by.  After telling us about the dates for trash pickup, she invited us to meet neighbors at the Gazebo Group.  At the next opportunity, we did, and attend whenever we can.

What is the Gazebo Group?  It’s a gathering of up to two dozen residents of the Duplexes meeting Mondays from five to six in the afternoon.  In fair weather, we meet in the large gazebo, hence the name; in winter, in the Wellness Center or other indoor space.   Some bring a glass of wine, others do not.  We often chat in groups of two or three, but also in “plenary session,” to discuss some topic of common interest.

We may talk of recent travels, books newly read, sightings of deer in our yards, or whatever seems interesting (no talk of divisive politics, though).  And we share information about our health, too, as we gently look after each other. Residents organize the meetings without involvement from administrators. We are neighbors being neighborly.
