Nationwide Prohibition was in full swing. It lasted from
1920 until 1933. The Eighteenth Amendment—which
illegalized the manufacture, transportation and sale of
alcohol—was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1917.
First round the world flight is completed after 175 days
by two planes of the U.S. Army landing at Sand Point Seattle.
Statute of Liberty becomes a National Monument.
The Immigration Act of 1924 excluded Asians and sharply
limited immigration from Southern and Eastern Europe.
