Winning Touchdown for the 4th Annual “Souper Bowl With Love!”

celebrating Souper Bowl With Love!

Home team “Souper” Bowl Champs for the fourth consecutive year!   FTJ residents and team members ensured the “Souper Bowl With Love” food drive benefitting the Pt. Defiance ~ Ruston Senior Center made it over the goal line to a game day victory. Many, many thanks for your generous support that resulted in distributing 105 meal bags of 3 cans of soup, crackers, and a box of Valentine chocolates to Senior Center participants!

A stadium cheer to the resident volunteers who ran defense for Philanthropy ~ organizing, counting, packing and so much more! Pictured on the frontline are Kay Bristow, Rita Copp, Karen Fischer, Mame Matteson, and Pat Mail. Not pictured in the lineup are Jerry and Marcia Winkle who were also part of this A-Team.

Please know these donations are so much more than the gift of food ~ it is an act of love and kindness that filled the Senior Center with joyous smiles. One participant hugged her bag and said, “I am so excited to take this home and get warm and eat chocolates!”  Another, upon receiving soups said, “would you please tell everyone at FTJ that we really appreciate how they always remember us?”    Kate Gray, Senior Center Director gratefully added: “The FTJ residents and staff and the Tacoma community never cease to amaze me with their generosity. A food drive during cold weather is so very needed by some of our seniors.  What a healthy and beautiful gift that will provide meals over Super Bowl weekend and beyond.  The FTJ residents are angels again – thank you very much!”

From the bottom of our Philanthropy Department hearts, we would like to thank everyone for your ongoing encouragement and contributions.  It takes a village, and our village may be small, but it is mighty; and the unity and sense of community are enormous.
