Building On Our Legacy

2019 was a remarkable year of accomplishments, perseverance, and a community that affirmed our mission. As we proudly commemorated our 95th anniversary as a leader in senior living, we celebrated the culmination of a multi-year vision and the successful completion of our campus expansion.

We wrapped up our first Capital Campaign, Historic Past ~ Innovative Future, which successfully raised over $2.5 million dollars for the new and much anticipated Care Center. This achievement would not have been possible without the leadership of a dedicated Capital Campaign Committee. Together with residents, Board Members, foundations, staff and businesses, a supportive community ensured this project came to fruition.

On a memorable day in July 2019, the ribbon was cut, opening the doors to a new standard for long-term skilled nursing and memory care. This beautiful new building was planned and designed to provide dignity, innovative care and peace of mind – a tranquil, home-like environment we want for our residents, our families, our loved ones, and ourselves.

On that same day in July and a few doors down on our campus, the modern and spacious Bristol View Apartments also enjoyed its grand opening. Tours were held  to view our newest addition to independent living, offering even more options for today’s active senior life.

2019 was filled with a heartfelt sense of teamwork as we smoothly transitioned current and new Skilled Nursing and Memory Care residents to the new Care Center. With the new expansion of 28 memory care rooms, we quickly filled 23 of them. Our deep gratitude goes to all the families who moved their loved ones so efficiently, and our resident ambassadors and staff members who welcomed and assisted on moving day. The adjustment to new surroundings was made easier and more comfortable for everyone during this monumental undertaking.

We ended 2019 with an additional honor for Franke Tobey Jones. Pierce County Human Services recognized the Pt. Defiance ~ Ruston Senior Center at their annual Recognition Luncheon with an Aging and Disability Award for community service, outreach and service to Pierce County residents and hosting the LGBTQ community.

Franke Tobey Jones will always be more than beautiful buildings. We are a home and a family. As our population ages and the demand for long-term senior and memory care increases, we strive to be at the forefront of meeting those needs. We extend our deepest appreciation for your commitment to quality senior living for generations to come.
