In Memory – Judith Sloan

Judy Sloan

It is with profound sadness that we said goodbye to Judith Sloan, a former FTJ Board Member who peacefully passed away in April.  Judy grew up in University Place, received a nursing degree from Stanford University and became a Navy nurse.  After marriage and raising two children, she returned to college at the University of Washington where she earned a master’s degree and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  Her work in the fields of emergency medicine, nursing research and primary care turned out to be a perfect fit for the FTJ Board.

In April of 2008 at the FTJ Annual Meeting, Judy’s bio was presented to the Board which unanimously voted her onto the board.  Her first Board meeting was in July of that year at which she discovered the Board Chair had appointed her to lead the Development Committee.  She graciously accepted and FTJ was very fortunate to have her leadership and expertise on the Board through 2011.
