Although Carole wasn’t born in Tacoma, she proudly calls it home. Her roots in the area run deep—she began her education at Hillside Elementary at Fort Lewis and still fondly remembers when Madigan Hospital was just a rambler. Over the years, she’s watched the South Sound grow and change, yet it has always retained its close-knit sense of community that she loves.
Born and raised in Washington State, primarily in beautiful Pierce County, Janel has always had a deep appreciation for community, connection and the sense of belonging that comes from calling a place home. Her life journey, however, has also taken her far beyond the Pacific Northwest. She’s had the unique opportunity to live abroad in the Philippines, Costa Rica and Mexico, as well as in several U.S. states including Florida and Hawaii. Each move gave her a broader perspective on people, cultures and what makes a community thrive.
