Alzheimer’s Association Lecture Series: 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s*

Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause changes in memory, thinking and behavior that interfere with daily life. Join us to learn about 10 common warning signs and what to watch for in yourself and others. The program covers: Typical age-related changes, common warning signs of Alzheimer’s, how to approach someone about memory concerns, early detection, the benefits of a diagnosis, the diagnostic process and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

Vision Matters – The Newest Technology for Those Visually Impaired*

Vision Matters is in the business of helping people living with low vision or blindness. They represent a variety of manufacturers and will be demonstrating some of the latest innovations – devices that make a life changing difference to those who can benefit from them. Many new innovations will be shown, devices helpful for those wanting to see the TV better or their computer screen: a device that will instantly convert text to speech! These and many others will be introduced and demonstrated. Vision Matters goals are to provide an interactive experience for attendees in this informational and educational event.

Wise Grandparents Discussion
Elders play a vital role in the lives of grandchildren. Today, grandparents are active, educated, healthy, and have important life experiences to share. Our relationship with our grandchild is so special for us and for them.

Research suggests that children find unique acceptance in their relationships with grandparents, which benefits them emotionally and mentally. It’s easy when you know a little about the Natural Learning Relationships that children need to access well-being.

Grandparents are more than just playmates for their grandchildren, we are very often role models and mentors for younger generations. We are also historians — teaching values, instilling ethnic heritage, and passing on family traditions. Most importantly, we pass on the stories of our lives.
