Impacts of AI on the Environment
Artificial Intelligence has taken the world by storms especially since the launch of generative artificial intelligence ChatGPT in 2022. What is generative artificial intelligence (AI)? What can it do and what can it not do? Why does it make serious mistakes while appearing to be extremely “smart” at the same time? How should we conduct ourselves in an era with AI being an integral part of our life? What opportunities and challenges does AI pose to our human capacity and human existence? What are the driving forces of the development of AI and why should we care?

In this interactive lecture, we are going to look at the basics of AI – definitions, how it works, different types of AI, its history and its new developments. Considering its unprecedented power and equally great risks (biases, security, deep fakes …), besides exploring AI’s applications in education, medicine, businesses and public services, we are also going to explore its social, ethical and environmental impacts.
