This month Holistic Wellness is offering everything from Meditation, the Tacoma Youth Symphony, yoga and the Harbor History Museum!

Join us for a 30-minute meditation class lead by a 71- year-old former monk of 21 years and a meditation teacher with over 50 years of experience. No experience needed. All are welcome.
“Can You Hear Me Now? Understanding Hearing Loss: Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment”
Thursday, March 12
2 pm FTJ Wellness Center
Faculty and students from the Speech and Hearing Department at the University of Washington, will deliver an insightful presentation on hearing loss. The talk will explore key aspects of hearing loss, including its diagnosis, treatment options, and the latest advancements in related technologies. Attendees will also participate in breakout sessions featuring hearing screenings, a review of various over-the-counter hearing aids, and discussions on managing hearing difficulties. This interactive format aims to provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience with the tools and interventions shaping the future of hearing care.
Tacoma Youth Symphony Drumming (Made possible by a generous donation to Holistic Wellness)
Monday, March 16
10 am Memory Care
Drumming gives us access to rhythmic, musical skills that engage our minds in unique ways. For this class, no prior musical training is needed, and all instruments and materials are provided by the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association. Through this session, participants will experience a real drum circle, try out instruments such as djembe, frame drum, and talking drum, and develop connection and community in real time!
Harbor History Museum
Wednesday, March 18
Bus Departs Bistro at 10:30 am
Join Holistic and Senior University for a relaxing and enriching trip to the Harbor History Museum where we will enjoy a scenic ride to explore local history, maritime stories, and community heritage. Come discover something new and spend the morning with us! Tickets are $10/ person. Music has the power to bridge generations and stir the soul. Symphony Tacoma invites you for an afternoon of live chamber music featuring harp, viola, and flute. Join us for a sixty-minute performance that will delight and inspire. Whether you are a lifelong fan of the classics or are curious about something new, come experience the joy of live music and the warmth of community with Symphony Tacoma.
Coffee Sips & Medicare Tips

A casual, open-forum event where you can ask questions about Medicare, get honest answers, and learn about upcoming deadlines without a formal sales pitch.
Restorative Yoga & Live Cello (Made possible by a generous donation to Holistic Wellness)

1 pm FTJ Wellness Center
Enjoy a calming and restorative yoga class with live cello & singing by Karen Laura Peters. This class will begin with gentle movements to ease into the practice. Then we will build several restorative yoga poses and rest in each for 5-10 minutes. The restorative poses will be accompanied by live cello and singing.

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon with the smooth sounds of Saxophone, Bass, and Piano! This dynamic Trio brings you a mix of feel-good tunes, blending jazzy melodies, soulful rhythms, and some popular and seasonal music that will have you smiling, tapping your feet, and enjoying every note!

To participate in the Holistic Wellness programs you must be a FTJ Wellness member.
Join Our Wellness/Fitness Club!
Non FTJ residents aged 55 and better are welcome to join our Fitness Club. Stay active with our Try Before You Buy policy—test out our gym and fitness classes before committing! Memberships are $50/month (individuals) or $75/month (couples). If you’re an FTJ resident or on the FTJ waitlist, your membership is free!
