Summer Mocktails Bring Refreshing Fun to Tobey Jones

There was a splash of summer fun in the Tobey Jones dining room recently as residents gathered for a special Mocktail Making Event! With warm weather upon us, it was the perfect opportunity to learn how to create delicious, refreshing beverages that capture all the flavor and excitement of a cocktail—without the alcohol.

Residents enjoyed watching mocktail demonstrations, discovering creative ingredient combinations, and learning tips for crafting colorful drinks that are both tasty and hydrating.

“Mocktails have become increasingly popular because they offer a festive way to celebrate while promoting wellness and hydration, says Kaye Dolphus-Sewell, Assistant Director of Dining, who hosted this fun event.  “They are perfect for summer gatherings, afternoon socials, and relaxing on a hot day with friends.”

Beyond the beverages themselves, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to socialize, share laughter, and enjoy a fun, interactive experience together.

Make Your Own Mocktail

Sunset Ginger Spritzer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peach bellini mixer
  • ½ cup ginger beer
  • ½ cup peach sparkling water
  • Splash of ginger ale
  • 1–2 teaspoons grenadine (for sweetness and color)
  • Ice cubes
  • Dried dehydrated orange slices for garnish

 Instructions

  1. Build your base. Fill a glass about three-quarters full with ice.
  2. Add the flavor. Pour in the peach bellini mixer for a smooth, fruity foundation.
  3. Layer the bubbles. Add the ginger beer and peach sparkling water for a lightly sweet, effervescent blend.
  4. Finish with sparkle. Top with a splash of ginger ale for extra fizz.
  5. Create the color. Slowly drizzle in the grenadine; it will settle slightly and create a beautiful sunset-inspired layered effect.
  6. Garnish and serve. Add a dried dehydrated orange slice to the rim or float on top for an elegant presentation.

 Tips

  • For a stronger ginger flavor, increase the ginger beer and reduce the ginger ale slightly.
  • Chill all ingredients beforehand to keep the drink crisp and refreshing.
  • Serve in a clear glass to highlight the vibrant color and layered “sunset” look.

This mocktail is light, refreshing, naturally sweet, and packed with bright summer flavors. It’s a crowd-pleaser that’s as beautiful as it is delicious—perfect for sharing with friends on a sunny day.

Enjoy!
