Memory Care

Franke Tobey Jones Memory Care suites are beautiful and specialize in seniors with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. Our unique approach to memory care features a small group of residents who live together in a home-like setting with secured outside courtyards, many gathering spaces, 24 hour supervision and support. It is not necessary to live at FTJ first.  Private suites with en suite bathroom start at $6,795/month plus level of care cost.  Private suites with a bathroom shared by one other suite start at $5,660/month plus level of care cost.  There is a $5,000 community fee per person.

Montessori-Inspired Memory Care Programming

Starting in late 2022, Franke Tobey Jones embarked on a brand-new way of engaging with residents in our Memory Care. While Montessori is most often connected to learning for children, Montessori for dementia has been shown to be extremely effective in allowing the person with dementia to reconnect to a world they are losing access to.

Montessori-Inspired Memory Care Programming is an approach to dementia care that adapts the educational principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori to support individuals living with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. This philosophy focuses on creating a person-centered, engaging, and supportive environment that encourages independence, dignity, and a sense of purpose.

Key features of Montessori-inspired memory care programming include:

1. Person-Centered Approach

• Tailored activities based on the individual’s preferences, strengths, interests, and life history.
• Emphasis on preserving and utilizing remaining abilities rather than focusing on deficits.

2. Structured Environment

• A calm, organized, and predictable environment helps reduce confusion and anxiety.
• Visual cues, labels, and memory aids are often used to support navigation and orientation.

3. Engagement in Meaningful Activities

• Activities are designed to reflect the resident’s previous skills, hobbies, and roles, allowing them to feel purposeful and connected.
• Examples include cooking, gardening, sorting tasks, or music therapy.

4. Emphasis on Independence

• Residents are encouraged to perform tasks they can do independently or with minimal assistance, fostering self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.

5. Sensory Stimulation

• Incorporates tactile, visual, auditory, and olfactory experiences to engage the senses, evoke memories, and create calming or enjoyable moments.

6. Social Connection and Community

• Promotes opportunities for social interaction, group activities, and teamwork to combat isolation and loneliness.

This approach aligns well with best practices in dementia care, as it respects each resident’s individuality and focuses on maintaining quality of life through meaningful engagement and supportive care strategies.  Through sensory experiences and hands-on programing, those who have dementia are better able to reconnect with pleasant events and memories of the past to experience the positive emotions of remembered events

• Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, activity professionals and nursing assistants, each day is guided  by our 24 hour staff, and daily routine is structured to maximize quality of life for each resident

• Private Rooms with Full Bathrooms: Nearly all of our Skilled Nursing rooms are private, each featuring a full, private bathroom for added comfort, dignity and convenience.
• Secure, In-Room Medicine Cabinets: To maintain a calm and homelike atmosphere, each room includes a locking medicine cabinet — meaning you won’t see medication carts lining the hallways.
• Suite-Style Clusters: Rooms are thoughtfully grouped into cozy “suites,” creating a more intimate setting that offers privacy for residents and their families.
